THUNDER BAY, ON, Nov. 17 /CNW/ - WOLFDEN RESOURCES INC. (TSX:WLF) is pleased to announce that the Comprehensive Project Proposal for the High Lake Project has been submitted to The Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB) and Federal and Territorial regulatory authorities. In addition, several permits have been received with respect to advanced exploration programs for the corporation\\'s 100% owned High Lake and Izok Properties in Nunavut, Canada.
\"Filing of the Project Proposal with NIRB is the next step in the permitting process for the proposed High Lake Mine, bringing the Company one step closer to its goal to become a base metal producer at High Lake,\" said Ewan Downie, Wolfden\\'s President and CEO. \"We have worked hard during the preparation of this landmark document to ensure we have made our best efforts to adequately assess the impacts of the project. We look forward to working closely with NIRB and the various stakeholders in the coming review.\" he said.
In submitting the Project Proposal documents, Wolfden has requested that NIRB consider the information provided in the Project Proposal sufficiently comprehensive to be considered as a full Environmental Impact Statement pursuant to Article 12.5.2 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. In addition Wolfden has requested that NIRB recommend to the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (\"INAC\") that the project receive an Article 12, Part 5 review under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.
Wolfden has endeavoured to prepare a thorough Project Proposal that is complete in its assessment of the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of the project and that it provides NIRB with the technical, environmental and socio-economic information necessary to conduct its review. NIRB will conduct a review of the project with input from various interveners including regulators and other stakeholders. Ultimately NIRB will make a recommendation to the Minister as to whether the High Lake Project should proceed. If a positive NIRB recommendation is obtained and is supported by the Minister, NIRB would then issue a Project Certificate which would allow the Nunavut Water Board (\"NWB\") to schedule and hold hearings into the granting of a water license for the project.
A copy of the executive summary of the Project Proposal is available on the Company\\'s website at http://www.wolfdenresources.com and the complete Project Proposal documents will be posted on NIRB\\'s website at http://nirb.nunavut.ca/.
Recently, NIRB issued a Screening Decision Report that has recommended in favour of the High Lake re-licensing Project Proposal for advanced exploration in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, Canada. Further to this recommendation, INAC (Indian and Northern Affairs Canada) has granted to Wolfden a Land Use Permits associated with this re-licensing program. Land Use authorization from the Kitikmeot Inuit Association with respect to Inuit owned lands is pending.
For the Izok Project, a Land Use Permit has been received from INAC, and the Nunavut Water Board has granted a Water Use License. These permits will allow Wolfden to complete the construction of a new camp at Izok and begin exploration work on the Property.
