    ABB wins 39 mln usd order from Dubai Aluminium to upgrade smelter complex

    ZURICH (AFX) - Swedish-Swiss engineering group ABB Ltd (Nachrichten/Aktienkurs) said it has been awarded a 39 mln usd contract by Dubai Aluminium Company (Dubal) to upgrade rectifier, transformer and automation systems at its smelter complex in Dubai.


    Commissioning of the new ABB systems will begin during July 2007 and is set for completion in March 2008, the company said.


    The project includes replacing five high-voltage regulating rectifier transformers with larger units, to increase capacity and allow Dubal to combine two existing smelting potlines, it said.


    Rectifiers are devices that convert alternating current to direct current.


    Dubai Aluminium operates the largest single-site aluminium smelter in the Western world, with an annual output exceeding 850,000 metric tons.

    ABU DHABI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Borouge, a joint venture of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. and Vienna-based Borealis, is evaluating bids from three international companies to build the world\'s largest ethylene plant in Ruwais in the U.A.E., Borouge chief executive said Sunday.

    "We will make a decision soon," Harri Bucht said at the sidelines of an Abu Dhabi conference organized by London-based Middle East Economic Digest.

    Shaw, Linde and ABB have submitted offers for the "multi-billion-dollar" contract, Bucht said.

    The ethylene plant will have a capacity of 1.45 million tonnes a year and will provide feedstock for polyethylene, or PE, and polypropylene, or PP, units that will also be built at Ruwais.

    Local and international companies are investing in petrochemical projects in Persian Gulf countries to benefit from cheap and widely available natural gas, commonly used to make chemical products.

    Borouge chose to build the ethylene plant in Ruwais to benefit from "economies of scale," Bucht said.

    The company already has a 600,000-tonne a year ethylene plant and PE and PP production units at Ruwais.

    Bucht said the new project will mainly target Asian markets, especially China, which is a heavy consumer of petrochemical products.

    Wieviel hast Du denn investiert und in was? Optionen? Wann und zu welchem Preis? Hatte selbst mal ABBGO, diese dann im Mai verkauft...zwar immer noch mit Gewinn, doch wenn ich sehe wo sie heute stehen.....

    die 1148% auf aktien,für 1.55 sfr. dazumal bekam man ne menge aktien für relativ wenig geld

    nur so viel wenn abb bei 25 ist kann ich langsam die kündigung schreiben

    He Speedy3 bleib auf dem Boden! Natürlich wäre es toll für ABB einen solchen Auftrag, oder ein Teil davon, zu bekommen. Damit ABB auf Deinen gewünschten Kurs kommt, muss noch einiges passieren und es wird bis dahin noch viel Wasser die Limmat runterfliessen....
